Our Sections
Markinch Scouts currently has four active sections. These sections form the group.

Beaver Scouts, for young people aged 6 to 8 years old.

Cub Scouts, for young people aged 8 to 10 ½ years old.*

Scouts, for young people aged 10 ½ to 14 years old.*

Explorer Scouts, for young adults aged 14 to 18 years old.*
Whilst these ages are how the sections normally operate, we do have core flexibility around most sections in the age range. This is normally 6 months either way.

Our youngest section, Beavers enjoy everything that scouting has to offer, from outdoor activities and traditional scouting skills to camping under canvas.
Our Beaver Scouts section is ran by our Section Leader, Clare Crumpton.
Beaver Scouts uniform consists of a turquoise sweatshirt and a group necker. Most beavers also wear a turquoise polo shirt for when the weather is warmer or when we are indoors – with the heating on.
The Beaver Scout Promise can be amended depending on the faith, beliefs or nationalities of the young person making the promise. This makes the promise meaningful to them.
For Christians, Jews and Sikhs
I promise to do my best
To be kind and helpful
And to love God.
For Hindus and Buddhists
I promise to do my best
to be kind and helpful
and to love my Dharma.
For humanists, atheists and those with no defined faith
I promise to do my best
to be kind and helpful
and to love our world.
For Muslims
I promise to do my best
to be kind and helpful
and to love Allah.

Our Cub scouts get involved in loads of activities in the hall and outside.
Our Cub Scout section is led by our Section Leader, Craig Thomson.
Craig is supported by our Assistant Section leader Morag Davidson.
The Cub Scout uniform consists of a green sweatshirt and the group necker. Most cubs also wear a green polo shirt for when the weather is warmer or when we are indoors – with the heating on.
The Cub Scout Law:
Cub Scouts always do their best
Think of others before themselves
And do a good turn every day.

Our Scout section have the widest range of activities in all of the sections, with more badges available to Scouts than we can count!
Our Scout section is led by our Section Leader, Kenny Davidson.
Kenny is supported by our Assistant Section leader Jenny Adamson.

and to keep the Scout Law.
For Hindus and Buddhists
On my honour,

Our oldest section, Explorers have a vast and more technical programme. Amongst other elements, our explorers can work towards their Young Leaders Belt and badge. This gives the young people the skills they need to assist and support in each section.
Our Explorer scout section is led by our Section Leader, Dawn Roberts.
The Explorer Scout uniform consists of a beige shirt and the group (or district) necker.
The Scout law and promise is the same for both scouts and explorer scouts.
